Geekz Highlight: GOT Fan Film

Are you a Game of Thrones Geek? Then you should check out this independent fan made film by filmmaker and Director Nerys Muller called "Why Must the Old Gods Take From Us So". Nerys created this project independently on her own from Directing, Producing, cinematography, and costume design. You can read all about the film and Directors statement with BTS photos from the set.

Project Description:

“Why Must the Old Gods Take From Us So” is a fan film inspired by HBO’s Game of Thrones spinoff House of the Dragon produced by Book Two Productions LLC. The entire project was written, produced, shot, edited, and scored all over the course of a single month to give the characters of Rhaena and Baela Targaryen (the fandom’s collective Black Targaryen Queens) more screen time and justice they deserve. From the mind of Nerys Muller, a female BIPOC indie filmmaker and George R. R. Martin superfan, the short film is a head-canon piece that takes place after House of the Dragon’s first season finale. The morning after news hit Dragonstone of the princeling's death, Baela comforts her sister Rhaena in a time of immense grief.

Director’s Statement by Nerys Muller:

I put together this project soon after the Season One finale of "House of the Dragon" dropped and we were introduced to the amazing characters of Baela and Rhaena Targaryen. I only wish they had more screen time, but for those still along for the ride ... the part they play later on is phenomenal. In the spirit of our Black Targaryen Queens, I wrote this scene to highlight the bonds of family, giving more insight into their point-of-view of the events that occurred through the show's first season.

This passion project was an absolute joy to work on. With such a talented cast and stellar crew, I couldn't have asked for a better team to bring this story to life. Thank you to all of those online who have supported this journey. I present to you "Why Must the Old Gods Take From Us So”.
